My ‘Why’ & Values

An early stage internet start up in 2000 launched my love of online marketing, web development & community building.

Back in 2016, after a long digital career, I was ready for a pivot. And like most people looking for more meaning in my work life and itching for a change, I asked myself what I would do if I could do anything?

I would write.

I’ve been writing professionally for decades, in one form or another - but always online and to get found. As it turns out I’ve been doing content marketing since before it was an official ‘thing’.

Fast forward to today.

I now help small businesses become profitable faster, with affordable SEO and content services they so desperately need.

Happy clients are repeat clients, which helps me keep marketing costs low and meet my own personal business financial goals without having to charge $300/hour.

Small business owners & nonprofit leaders simply can’t know it all, especially SEO, which changes every day. That’s where I come in. That’s how I contribute to the world. This is what I care about.

So far so good. :)

What I’ve learned over the past 6 years is that having a creative outlet is super important to our mental health.

The creative act of making content will fill you with joy, soothe your soul, and if done right, grow your business.

Why is my company called ‘NEST’ New Media? Like chicks in a nest, NNM is a place where entrepreneurs get the SEO knowledge and content support they need to grow their businesses.

Full disclosure, I’m website biased.

My approach is to make your owned media (e.g. your website and newsletter) your digital sun & moon.

While I will assess the role of social media in your content strategy, I don’t ‘do’ social, with the exception of LinkedIn and YouTube. I am more than happy to refer you to someone who is steeped in and loves doing social.

Entrepreneurs often spend a disproportionate amount of time on social media without the data to support their investment. If Instagram drives your business goals (you’re a consumer product company) and the numbers prove it, that’s great!

And even if you are social focused, consider adding a long form content strategy to your marketing mix and see what that yields.

You might be surprised at how much people care about and are driven to action by the right written words, video and images.

My Hobbies: When I’m not on the Pickleball court, I’m on the water. You’ll often spot me stand-up paddle boarding on CT’s beautiful Long Island Sound with our bossy Yorkipoo Elton, sailing, racing, or zooming around on my electric boat.
